A New Star is Born

Zverev capped off the end of a brilliant week for the Roger’s Cup yesterday beating Federer, 6-3 6-4 (Watch the highlights here) but there was far more than just a good final last week in Montreal, including the making of a new star!
I am of course talking about the impressive young Canadian, Denis Shapovalov. You may remember Shapovalov made big headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this year as he smacked a ball that inadvertently hit the umpire straight in the eye during a Davis Cup tie.
But the 18 year old Canadian more than made amends this week putting in some of the performances of the tournament. After facing 4 match points in his opening round, Shapovalov went onto beat Juan Martin Del potro, Rafael Nadal, and Adrian Mannarino before succumbing to the eventual winner, Alexander Zverev.
Shapovalov has a huge lefty serve which is often follow by an even bigger lefty forehand. Take a look at some of the highlight (especially the Nadal match!) and remember the name as you’ll be seeing this boy around for a long time!
Here are some of the best shots of the tournament.
